Old Rangji Temple- Pushkar


Dedicated to Lord Ranga, one of the tripartite gods and an avatar of Lord Vishnu in South India, the Old Rangji Temple is one of the most prominent temples in town. Built in 1844 AD, the Ranganath Venugopal Temple, as it is also known, is an outstanding example of architecture combining the Dravidian and Rajasthani styles. Build as a grand courtyard campus, the outer compound fortification is adorned with old Fresco paintings depicting the mythological legends and has been opened to foreign tourists since 1864. Dance, yoga and music classes are conducted in the temple buildings. the Old Rangji Temple is situated in the middle of town and accessible off Main Street.
