Savitri Temple – Pushkar
The highest hill around the lake, on which Savitri temple is perched, was created to appease Goddess Savitri, consort of lord Brahma. When Savitri found Brahma sitting with Gayatri- a local Gujjar girl- she cursed Brahma to have no following outside Pushkar, left in a huff and climbed the Ratnagiri hill. Sitting atop the hill, Savitri temple offers extraordinary view of landscapes on all sides looking over Pushkar on one and desert on the other side. A simple Pushkar temple in itself, it is the 1000-step 30 minute climb, comfortable cable car ride and the scenic beauty from atop, including a stunning sunrise, which makes it all worth paying a visit.
