Ajmer Museum
Also known as Akbari Fort, Ajmer Museum was commissioned by emperor Akbar in 1570. It also served as the residence for Prince Salim for a while. This is the location from where Salim, as emperor Jahangir, permitted the British East India Company to trade with India. The location historically holds an important place as the decision taken here changed the course of India’s fate. Now, it houses Mughal and Rajput armours and some of the finest paintings of Bharatpur Maharjas. Akbar’s Palace in Ajmer is considered to be an architectural masterpiece. There are several rooms in the palace that are found to be heavily decorated. The stone walls surrounding the Palace consist of a bastion that is double storied and is enclosed with a chain of columns. The stocky turret of Ajmer Musem consists of a hefty core that leads to an array of rooms.
