Ana Sagar Lake- Ajmer
A defining element of the city of Ajmer, Ana Sagar is an artificial lake was constructed by Anaji Chauhan, grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan, in 1135-1150 AD. It was built around the same time as the city of Ajaymeru/ Ajmer was being established. The lake is spread across 13 kms and was built as a water catchment for the town. In 1637, the emperor Shahjahan constructed an embankment on the south eastern edge with beautiful white marbles. As part of the Smart City projects, walkways are built along Ana Sagar lake.
