
Soniji ki Nasiya; Digambar Jain Temple- Ajmer
Built in the 19th century, Soniji ki Nasiya rich architectural marvel in red sandstone. This houses what is commonly referred to as ‘city of gold,’ which consists of several gold-plated wooden figures depicting several prominent figures from Jainism. The temple has one of the first and few three-dimensional representations of the five Kalyanakas of Lord Rishabhdev, a depiction of five stages of life of every Tirthankara.
The first floor of the temple, popularly called as Swarna Nagari hall, houses one of the most astonishing architectural creations of the Universe in the version of Jainism, which also constitutes of gold plate replicas of every Jain temple of the country. An estimated 1000 kilograms of gold has been used in the construction of the marvel depicting panorama from Jain mythology. The inner chamber of the temple is decorated with silver balls hanging from the ceiling. The interior is adorned with Belgium stain glass, mineral colour paintings and stained glasswork. Festooned by precious stones, gold and silver work, the place is also termed as Soniji ki Nasiyan. The temple is located in Ajmer near the southest edge of Anasagar Lake.
