Shiva is the supreme God of transformation who represents the highest self.\u2019 It is called the Shiva Panchakshara or simply Panchakshara. The five syllable mantra. (\u2018Om\u2019 is excluded.) The mantra originates in the Krishna Yajurveda, where it appears several times without its first syllable. The five syllables \u2013 \u2018\u2019Na\u2019 \u2018Ma\u2019 \u2018Si\u2019 \u2018Va\u2019 and \u2018Ya\u2019 are thought to represent five elements of the world \u2013 \u2018Na\u2019 represents \u2018earth\u2019. \u2018Ma\u2019 represents \u2018water\u2019. \u2018Si\u2019 represents \u2018fire\u2019.
